What else do you do in your free time? What hobbies do you have?
I love exploring hole-in-the-wall restaurants; finding good coffee/beer places; traveling/adventures (just back from diving and eating delicious food in Thailand with my husband); hiking/long walks with Bronson (my dog); and doing anything outdoors in this amazing southern California weather (biking, playing softball/basketball, surfing, snowboarding, and learning to play tennis/beach volleyball from co-residents, to name a few things).
Now that you're at UCLA-Olive View, what has pleasantly surprised you or is your favorite thing about our program?
#1 THE PEOPLE! My co-residents are some of the most fun, down-to-earth people I have ever met; I love the after-shift dinners/drinks/breakfasts/mimosas, exploring restaurants in LA with my co-interns, and the on-shift camaraderie. There is a great relationship between departments at both UCLA Reagan and Olive View-UCLA. UCLA is a top-tier medical school with fantastic academic attendings who are excited to teach us on off-service rotations, and the departments are very welcoming of the new interns during each of the off-service rotations. The program directors care about resident well-being, and they are willing to listen and change when there are opportunities for improvement. The faculty at both the Olive View – UCLA and the UCLA Reagan emergency departments are exceptional teachers and models for humanistic patient care.
