Why did you choose UCLA for residency?
Simply put, the people and the location. I did my externship here with the fantasy that LA and UCLA were a perfect fit for me. By the end of my month here I found that was 100% true. I want to want to go to work not just so I can learn and help others, but also so I can see my friends; that's how I felt here.
What else do you do in your free time? What hobbies do you have?
I love to surf and play volleyball. Though I really don't like wearing a wetsuit now that I'm on the West Coast. I also exercise a fair amount but that's probably just because I've been on post med school vacation with too much energy.
What are your areas of interest within EM or future career plans?
Honestly, I don't know. My interview answer was to focus on Disaster Medicine. But the beauty of EM is we still haven't committed to anything really. I'd love to explore further avenues of combining business with medicine as well.
