Dr. Cooper is a Professor of Emergency Medicine and Vice Chair of Research at the UCLA Department of Emergency Medicine, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.  She completed her emergency medicine residency at the UCLA Emergency Medicine Residency, followed by a research fellowship at UCLA with a Masters of Science of Health Services from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.  She has been a methodology and statistics editor at Annals of Emergency Medicine since 2000.  She is the Executive Deputy Editor at Annals of Emergency Medicine. She has received funding from AHRQ, PCORI, and NIH.

Research interests: research design/methodology and data presentation, health services research, social emergency medicine including social determinants of health, disparities, homelessness, violence, and health equity, conflicts of interest, overuse/overdiagnosis (low value care) and underuse in medicine, sex and gender issues in medicine, risk and shared decision making, as well as the science of peer review research (methodology and reporting in the literature).
