Interests

I have been an avid equestrian for over twenty years. My passion grew until I was spending weeks living and traveling with my trainer. In college, I was a member of the Stanford Equestrian Team, and I have continued to ride throughout medical school. I learned to sew from my mother and have since expanded my skill set with the help of friends, joining a community of crafters that swap patterns and techniques. I like to knit, crochet, cross-stitch, and sew.

Area of Interest:
Global Health, Infectious Disease, Pain/Addiction Medicine, Social Emergency Medicine/Advocacy, Ultrasound, Wilderness

Why did you choose UCLA for Residency?

Too many reasons to list! I am excited for the academic/county combo, seeing pediatric patients during shifts at RR as well as rotating at CHLA, plentiful elective time, and opportunities to be involved in social EM. Also, despite this interview season being virtual, I got the sense that the program is very cohesive, supportive, and happy!

What is your favorite place to visit/thing(s) to do in/memory from living in LA? If you have never lived here before, what are you most excited about?

I am excited to explore all of the parks and restaurants within walking distance of my new home

What do you do in your free time? What hobbies do you have?

Crafting, riding my horse, and hiking with my dog

What are your areas of interest within EM or future career plans?

I am most interested in pediatric emergency medicine, but EM has so many fantastic fellowships and niches that I am looking forward to learning more about!

Are you involved in any research or national EM committees etc? If so, what?

My current research projects focus on pain management in the ED and pediatric skull fractures

Are there any projects or outside extracurricular you are working on?

I'm almost always working on a craft project, and I recently finished a quilt!

What is your go-to song to get pumped up on shift?

The Ills by Mayer Hawthorne

Any hidden talent(s)?

I can put my foot behind my head

Who would you be if you could be any superhero?

Probably The Flash because being able to move really fast in the ED would be helpful!

Where would we find you if not in the department (ie. couch, beach, wilderness, climbing, etc.)?

At the park with my dog or at the barn

Next vacation stop?

Hoping to go to Iceland once it's safe to travel

What is your spirit animal?

I think I'd be a dolphin, excited to learn and happiest when with their pod!
